Creatures

There are no widely accepted or standardized classifications for the creatures of Margos, though several scholars have created such systems for their own purposes. Categorizing animals in this way has little use or relevance to the average layperson, so this way of thought is usually exclusive to the highly educated. The most famous attempt to categorize creatures was accomplished by the philosopher Baragos of Oano who divided creatures into two major groups each with their own sub-groups based primarily on the appearance of their blood and secondarily on key physical attributes.

Mundane Creatures

Ereuthohaima

Ereuthohaima are creatures who have red blood. They are the largest group of creatures, and for this reason have a number of large sub-divisions. These divisions include:

Anthropos: humans and their close relatives, gigantes and nymphs.

Zoiotoka: sub-human red-blooded creatures which give birth to their young. Examples include kangaroos and minotaurs.

Oiotoka: red-blooded creatures which lay eggs. Examples include toads and mungoon-gali.

Ornithes: red-blooded creatures which lay eggs and have feathers. Examples include emus and typhons.

Ikhthyes: water-dwelling red-blooded creatures which lay eggs. Examples include sharks and scylla.

Kuanohaima

Kuanohaima are blue-blooded creatures, often with unusual numbers of limbs. Examples include cyclopes and yara-ma-yha-who

Anhaima

Anhaima are creatures which have no blood. Examples include spiders and karkinos.

Paracreatures

Automata

Automata are creatures forged by the gods from god-iron.

Daimonia

Daimonia are beings which are something between a creature and a god. They have purple blood and sometimes have demigod-like abilities. Their bodies vary greatly from one another and have parts made of both living and non-living materials.
